The Story of Christabelle & Her Friends
MAMABELLE
With 6 closets full of clothes and shoes
does she really need any
intro at all?? She is the QUEEN BEE of fashion, trends, style, grace and
manners. A true inspiration to all women - the epitome of class, wit and
intelligence. We love you Mamabelle
thanks for making us all little
ladies and teaching us to respect ourselves and others - in every step
of life.
And though we all appreciate your lessons of individuality
HOW COULD
YOU LET US PRANCE AROUND IN FLOURESCENT CLOTHING, SHOULDER PADS AND ACID
WASHED JEANS?! We will all ponder that one for life
CARLIBELLE
You can never be too rich or too thin...or have too many pairs of jeans!
I think this summarizes my fashion philosophy! My wardrobe consists mainly
of jeans & tees. I am one of those self-proclaimed "jean junkies".
I admit it - I have issues (ask Christabelle and she'll tell you the list
goes far beyond my denim addiction). But, I DO believe in dressy
jeans and I DO believe you can wear them anywhere. Throw on the right
shoes, add the right bag, grab a scarf (I can even knit you one!), sexy
shades and you are the apple of my eye! I have been all about comfort,
with a touch of style, for as long as I can remember- which is as long
as Christabelle & I have been friends (can we say Bat Mitzvah days!!).
Although she loves me just the way I am, she would love to see a little
more cleavage on me (nix the tees, grab a v-neck halter), a little more
make-up (more than just gloss and mascara), and a little less drama (men
- need I say more?!).
However, she knows, if I'm not comfy, I am cranky. And, nobody likes a cranky Carlibelle.
LANIBELLE
Christabelle loves to torture me with the story of how we met
"Circa
7th grade" I was a unique fashion diva - wearing a 45 record in my
hair as my ponytail holder (did I just date myself?!). And though Christabelle
was on the school paper writing "Fad's and Fashions of the T.M.S",
she apparently did not have an eye for fashion forward divas such as myself.
She laughed and made fun of my creativity and in turn, I did what any
fashion bully would do, I stole her notebook and made her cry. And so
the friendship began
Being a personal trainer, event producer, handbag designer and a bride-to-be..
I consider my style to be uniquely comfortable. Whether I am at the gym
or in my showroom, I always look for casual comfort and impeccable design.
The Leo in me thinks you should always stand out in a crowd
but
never stand alone. Looking fabulous is a way of life (even with a 45 in
your hair!)
ALIBELLE
I met Christabelle the first day of college at the University of Rhode
Island. Hailing from Massachusetts, I began my college career wearing
my preppiest outfits in an attempt to look as "wicked cool"
as possible. Our first night we went to a frat party in a herd and at
the stroke of midnight I caught glimpse of my fading makeup in a hallway
mirror. Cute college boys multiplied quickly around me and I frantically
turned to Christabelle and asked if she had a lipstick I could borrow.
"I can do better than one!" she exclaimed and whipped out a
spectrum of shades from her designer purse. I knew then and there we would
be friends forever. (She later pulled me aside and told me to WIPE the
"wicked cool" from my vocabulary ASAP!)
Now living across the country from each other, Christabelle in the Big Apple and me in Portland OR, we continue to gab about beauty and fashion via cell phones (in between a fight or two over who plays better ball - the Red Sox or the Yankees!) Being a professional in the HR field, I like to mix my east coast attitude with my west coast style- professional & determined, yet comfortable & hip. Color is a must for me - especially with the amount of rain we see here. And for the record - I know Christabelle's real reason for not wanting to visit the beautiful Beaver State is because the humidity will frizz her hair!!
TEENIEBELLE
Christabelle and I met in the 7th grade when we both made the cheerleading
squad, found a mutual love for the mall and started to pine over the same
boys. Now, nearly 2 decades later, we are still doing cheers in public,
shopping until our feet are numb and talking about boys! Some things really
don't change
especially my love of SAKS!!
Through years of living in the city, working in advertising - moving
to the burbs, turning my career to Elementary Education
style has
always been a top priority for me. Married for almost 5 years
the
newest member to our group was born in September 2003 - Talibelle. For
the record, she came out of the womb waiving a credit card and demanding
pink flowered sneakers. A true fashion diva in the making.
My fashion philosophy is comfort and fit. Without those two elements
pulling an outfit off without a hitch is nearly impossible.
SANDIBELLE
Christabelle and I met in New York City on the very fashionable 5th Avenue
(where else would you expect her to be hanging out?)
She is a true fashion connoisseur and since the beginning of our friendship, she has instilled with me a true appreciation for designer shoes, bags and the one-of-a-kind outfit that you can put together in a pinch. I've learned so much from my friend, over the years about style, trends and having the confidence to wear anything that I feel great in! Though she can smell a good sale before it even happens and calculate percentages off designer duds in her sleep, she still makes me (the Economics major - don't ask!) figure out the tip when we hit NYC's trendiest hot spots!! Some things will never change and I love it!
I work in the beauty industry as a Public Relations executive and thoroughly enjoy where my job has taken me and the people that I have met. Fashion has always been a huge part of my job, but I like to think that my style is different from most. I love to express myself through my clothes----a woman who is feminine, confident, a bit trendy, elegant --- and most importantly----comfortable. Through countless hours of lunchtime shopping, weekend sprees in the Hampton's, NYC's sample sales, national hunts for GW and even braving the outlets in New Jersey - Christabellle has helped me find my inner fashionista!
ANABELLE
I'm Anabelle - better known as Miss Anabelle to my students. I'm Christabelle's
older and wiser (and much cuter!) sister
My fondest childhood memories (besides volunteering Christabelle to be
a taste tester for "concoctions" I created in the kitchen -
yes
it explains a lot about her - I think I might have poisoned her
on repeated occasions!!) are the countless hours of playing dress-up in
Mamabelle's closet...trying on shoes, jewels and clothes. As a youngster,
Christabelle would sneak in my room to try and steal all my totally "rad"
clothing, like my rainbow shirts, Gloria Vanderbuilt jeans, legwarmers,
and my Bon Jovi t-shirts. Obviously she had good taste even back then.
I should have known I was witnessing a fashion diva in the making...
Today, as a 4th grade teacher, I'm influencing the next generation of
fashion divas. "Shop 'til you drop" and "Never Buy Retail
when you can buy from Christabelle's Closet" are two valuable lessons
I teach my students daily. I recently purchased my first home outside
of Philadelphia and live with a beautiful Himalayan kitty, Mushkibelle
(who is eagerly awaiting a "Pampered Pet" section in the Closet
she
wants to shop!). Hey, do I get the friends and family discount??
BEKKIBELLE
It all began at University of Rhode Island where I 'accidentally' yanked
on Christabelle's hair and almost started a catfight in the cafeteria.
Truth now be told, I was just jealous because she was wearing the jacket
I wanted (and I have loved her more and more every day since then). Before
branching out into our own independent worlds, Christabelle and I lived
together in our Sorority House (AZ rocks the house!) and then moved into
an apartment together after graduation. Needless to say, I was a happy
(and envied) girl having 'the Closet' at my disposal!
Years later, Christabelle and I remain the closest of friends (and yes, she still allows me to rummage through her closet). Though she takes a long time to get ready she makes up for it by allowing me embarrass her once we finally make it out (I swear I never tried to sell her to a drunk minor in a bar!)
Living in Connecticut, I tend to lean towards a classic look and comfortable fit, but now that I have taken a new job that put me back in the Big Apple, I feel my inner fashionista clawing to get out. My fashion philosophy is simple: cool, clean cut and classy (with an occasional delve into 'dressing for the prom'just to make Christabelle smile!).
RIRIBELLE
I met Christabelle in the 8th gradeyes another cheerleader! And
though I lost trust in her as a spotter when she dropped me on my head
during a 'nostalgic cheerleading stunt' last summer, I still do have faith
in her shopping abilities. I taught her all the right cheer moves then
and know, years later, she is teaching me all there is to know about fashion.
Without her, I'd simply be lost! There is something to be said about vacationing
with Christabellewhether we are down the shore in Bayhead or out
in the Hamptonsyou can be confident that she will pack enough clothes
to style EVERYONE!
Working at a major television network in New York City keeps me on my toes and working ridiculous hours takes a toll on my wardrobe. My fashion philosophy is keep it simple, keep it fresh and mix it up. I love to interchange my separates and create new ways to wear the 'same' outfits. Though I love color, I tend to steer towards blackI would someday love to learn how to wear white in NYC.
ELIZABELLE
Though she hates feet with a passion, Christabelle has allowed me to embrace
my ugly toes and show them off in the summer (provided they don't EVER
touch her). Since as far back as I can remember, Christabelle always had
an issue of In-Style at handquoting the divine prophecies from what
she likes to call her 'bible'.
Though we could have all used some solid advice when we skipped out on studying for exams senior year of HS to go to Club Limelight (what do you mean flannels, a strand of pearls and cut off shorts are not a fashion statement?!), we are thankful to have her expertise at hand now. It was Christabelle that got me over my fears of turtlenecks (they make me choke!)and now I just cannot get enough.
I work part-time as a nurse and bedside educator in the Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit, I'm married to a funny guy, (I think he and Christabelle date
secretly, but I love her so much I'll share). And I have two little boys
5 and 2 who keep me on my toes and in constant laughter. My fashion philosophy
is - be sexy no matter who you are because at end of the day you are always
a woman. Moms and nurses can and should look hot!
