WHO IS THIS COOL PEEP – JENNIFER SCULLY:
A Long Island native, I began my career as a professional singer (an amazing 11 years that included touring with Enrique Iglesias’ band), I am now a single mom to a beautiful 7 (going on 17) year old named Lola, an interior designer, discount luxury furniture dealer and animal lover. Realizing a gypsy lifestyle was not compatible with raising a “mini me”, in 2004, I conceived and gave birth to ReDesign For A Dime.
I am truly blessed to be able to do something I love that allows me the flexibility to be there for my little one. Starting a business during a recession may not have sounded like a great idea to many at the time, but I knew I could succeed with my passion and drive. I have carved out a niche for myself and word of my discounts has traveled across the country and even across our northern borders into Canada. With a great demand for discount design decor, in October of 2011, I opened my second business, Discount Designer Furnishings. Now I have an online catalog of the more than 200,000 deeply discounted, but oh so designer home pieces.
A FEW OF JENNIFER’S FAVORITE THINGS:
My daughter’s laugh, nice people, my 3 dogs and 2 cats, eating Greek salad on a Greek island, Italy, massages, helping others, cheese, very high heels, moving, B&Bs, redecorating, “Before” & “After” photos, a beautiful dress (and somewhere fabulous to wear it to).
HER WISH LIST:
Peace and a little house by the sea. That’s it.
WHAT IS HER FAVORITE HAUNT:
I love Emilio‘s restaurant in Commack, NY. The food is great and when Emilio is there, he’s always good for a brief dance around the restaurant.
WHAT IS ON JENNIFER’S IPOD RIGHT NOW:
I don’t own an iPod. Is that weird? I like Pandora and created a Carmen McRae station. She is so juicy.
WHAT HANDBAG IS SHE CARRYING RIGHT NOW AND WHAT’S IN IT:
A cream colored Coach bag. Listerine strips, business cards, a credit card plug-in doohickey for my iPhone, gum, floss, Makeup Forever lipliner and Sephora Kohl eyeliner.
WHAT SONG PLAYS IN THE ROOM WHEN SHE WALKS IN:
Definitely Whatever Lola Wants!
WHERE CAN WE FIND THIS COOL PEEP OF THE WEEK NEXT?
You can sometimes find me working in my design showroom at 75 Main St in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. but more often I’m in my client’s homes.
I’m currently designing and overseeing a new construction in the Hamptons and collaborating on a furniture line with a local craftsman. I balance designing with selling/shipping furniture across the entire US and Canada and making “designer house-calls” clear across the nation. With a wave of my decorating wand, I grant home-design wishes wherever I land.
Note from C: Want the scoop on the LOWEST prices around for furniture and designer (rumor has it so low they can’t even be published…that’s my kind of gal!) contact Jenn NOW and get your pad House Beautiful.
I love being surrounded by timeless pieces mixed with whimsical things and I especially love anything reminiscent of the beach. For my clients, I design Moroccan bedrooms, Restoration Hardware-inspired dining rooms, uber-modern living rooms, cottage-style guest rooms or whatever style they so desire.
I recently just moved into my apartment on December 1st only to find out that I’m loosing my job of 5 years a month later. My apartment isn’t furnished and it really is embarrassing having ppl over. I too like timeless pieces which makes it hard to find anything I like within my barely there price range. I hope that I get some help so I can shop discount designer furnishings. Thank you so much Jen for starting this business! Lora
Lora – with a new year, comes many new and wonderful opportunities! Wishing you all of that and more in 2013.
I have found some wonderful items to decorate my home with on Craig’s List and our local Goodwill and Salvation Army. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure! Happy decorating and good luck…
I’ve seen Jenn’s work first hand and she definitely has an eye for designing…she can help someone on a tight budget as well as a Gold Coast client with the same respect and integrity. I highly recommend, Jennifer Scully, for your your designing needs…
That idea is good.
