The Achilles Race for Hope & Possibility® to Storm NYC
Largest Turnout Expected as Over 7,000 Athletes with Disabilities and Able-Bodied Runners Expected to Participate on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 9am in NYC’s Central Park
The 14th Annual Achilles International Hope & Possibility® 4-Mile Run/Walk will bring together thousands of athletes with disabilities alongside able-bodied competitors. Finishers will receive medals at this exciting event as well as various prizes for several categories and raffle open to all finishers. This race is an official qualifier event for the TCS New York City Marathon through the New York Road Runner’s 9+1 series.
Each year, this inclusive race enables athletes of all ages and abilities to celebrate hope and possibility. The four-mile course through New York’s Central Park will bring together people from around the globe with various disabilities, including visually impaired and amputee runners, as well as wheelchair racers. Once again, Achilles International is very proud and honored to welcome inspiring Achilles athletes including Achilles Kids and the FREEDOM TEAM of wounded veterans. In previous years, celebrity/VIP guests at the race have included, Prince Harry of Wales, Jon Stewart, Governor Paterson, Gloria Gaynor, Heather Mills, Anthony Edwards, Armie Hammer and Trisha Meili, who is the inspiration for this event.
H&P will take place on Sunday, June 26th, 2016, and will start at 8:45 a.m. for Handcycles, 8:55 a.m. for Pushrim wheelchairs & Power chairs, and 9:00 a.m. for all others on Central Park’s West Drive near 67th Street. In addition, the Hope & Possibility Fun Run will take place on the same date. This run is free for children ages 2 – 12 and also includes a free t-shirt, while supplies last, plus medals.
